Inlay is a way to make the surface of a keris valuable. There is a small hole in the blade which is mounted and filled with an inlay. This art is originally from Iran, where inlays installed on antique swords. In Java, this technique is called Sinarasah which is then attached as an additive in the Dapur. The gold content of Sinarasah is usually lower than in kinatah. This addition is subsequently applied without the aid of Empu by craftsmen. The Empu brings these additions forging directly. (See also kinatah and Sinarasah). |
