Mostly the warangka is made from gembol jati (teak wood) and the Pendok is open on the front side to see better the nice warangka Gandar Iras. Gayaman = the warangka gayaman is made in Jogjakarta Handle = it is the same like a hilt of a keris. Hulu = Indonesian word for the hilt of the keris. You can find here some different models. Keris = a keris is a traditional asymetric weapon with two sharp side, especially in Indonesia, but also in the neighbour states of Malaysia, Brunei, Kambodja, Thailand and the Philippines. Kerisses in Java are also called Curiga, Duwung or Wangkingan, in Balinese island Kadutan er Kedutan. In other areas also Tappi, Selle, Gayang, Kres, Kris or Karieh. Keris are known in the Western world since the 17th century. In 1637 the first Englishman takes a keris to his motherland. Since 1647 you find kerisses in the Danish Museum. Ladrang = warangka ladrang it is also called warangka Surakarta Luk = the warves of a keris. You find the keris lurus = straight keris and bending / wavey kerisses. The number of the luks is everytime is not even from 3 up to 29 if you folllow the Ensiklopedi Keris but I had found a keris with 31 luk. About the meaning of the luk please read it here. Mendak = Ring between hilt and the blade wilah and it covers the peksi. Olds mendaks are made from copper material, newer ones are mostly golden or silver colored and decorated with some white, red or green stones like zirkonia. Model = please see dapur, or details.
