Tikel Alis

It is a sign of the determination of the Dapur. There are three types of Tikel Alis: Jugag (indistinct curve), Nratas (with a broken arc) and Pepe (narrow and mostly lying inside) and several subspecies. See the forms in detail here.

The Dapur Tilam Upih has in contrast, no Tingil. Mostly, the blade is thin and flat, as there is no Ada Ada or Gusen. Keris experts mean this Dapur is good for men who already have family. The magical power confers peace and security for the family.

The grain is colored differently from the base of the timber. It is usually then called Pelet. In Bali it is also called Purnama Sadha or Timahan on Lombok and Sumbawa Brura Barora. In some areas of Java you can also find the name or Timanga Kati Manga or Kalomango or just Mangar. But there are also the terms Tengkele Tangkolo, Nundung, Cattimarus, Temhai, Kinar and Mangat in Indonesia customary for this type of wood.
